The Product:
For this eye opener, I decided to do the face cleaner that I use everyday which is Clean & Clear Blackhead clearing scrub. The results were not in my favor and pretty much made me want to throw it away and never use it again!!
Results:
-The face wash scored 6 out 10 on the hazardous scale.
-The ingredients in this product are linked to: cancer, violations, restrictions & warnings, allergies/immunotoxicity
-Other concerns for ingredients used in this product: neurotoxicity, persistence and bioaccumulation, organ system toxicity, miscellaneous, multiple, additive exposure sources, irritation, enhanced skin absorption, contamination concerns
-They also conduct animal testing (which I had no idea they did!!)
What I learned:
I was really shocked on how bad this product is...I had no idea they would even test face wash on an animal. That fact right there just makes me sick to my stomach! I will never again use this product. I even typed in some of the other products that I use everyday just to see what they would score too. Well pretty much everything that I use everyday is horrible and well I plan on changing this when I get done with college because the things I use now are usually on sale and really cheap. I use to use the Burt bee's but I guess my skin really did not like the product because I broke out from it but I am going to try some other products that are more natural. From now on I am going to do some research before I go and buy some product!!

Ingrid- Good luck with the research. I had a hard time finding any product that I use or have used in the past getting a score lower than 5. It is scary to see everything that is out there and how the majority of it is bad for us, and for the environment....I know Shar uses all natural facial products/cosmetics and such. Ask her what she uses, i'm sure she has an idea of what is good!! --S
ReplyDeleteI use clean & clear products as well, and its sad that those animals are getting tested on so our complexions are nice! I definitely agree with you when you said you're going to change your products when you're out of college. Unfortunately I don't have money to buy the natural, non-hazardous products. Hmmm... I hope I see nice paychecks in the future!
ReplyDeleteHaha, yes I'm a loser but you should try some of the stuff it's well worth it!
ReplyDeleteP.S. speaking of black heads I was watching Ellen today and a lady on there said if you just put a little glue on your nose and let it dry, it'll pull out your black heads (sounded pretty sweet) You know, like back in the day when you dried it to your hand and peeled it off...same thing but with your nose. I don't know really random but maybe it's worth a try, I'm not sure how bad glue is for your skin? Thanks for the post, Ingrid=)
I used to use this facewash too! thats sad that they test on animals. I will never buy clean and clear again! ugh!
ReplyDeleteIngrid, I agree with Sara, I think it is great that you are doing research! Second, Shar, that is really cool i think i might try it? Next, I cannot believe that Clean N Clear tests their products on animals that is honestly so sad and kinda upsetting! Man its crazy to think that our products we use everyday are so bad for us!
ReplyDeleteIngrid,
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear that all the products you use aren't very good, but I think everyone is on the same boat. Us college students love cheap stuff, and it's good that we're at least aware of this now, so we can change our behavior later! Good job!
